Together with future leaders & start-ups I anticipate the future through interdisciplinary thinking and research.

I believe in the importance of connecting different fields like design, technology and sustainability to better serve society, and in the value of a holistic outcome that is encouraged by experimentation.

Light & Disruption

Exploring the role of light during emergencies

In the modern word, complexity and uncertainty seem ever-present. How do we maintain relative order and a sense of calm? We rely on the power of interconnectivity. When different systems, processes and people work seamlessly in conjunction with one another, this is when our towns and cities flourish.

But what happens when something goes wrong?

Conflict, disruption and environmental changes can leave us vulnerable, but we're never entirely powerless. We explore how light can help to prevent challenging situations and crisis or manage emergencies when they occur. In testing circumstances, how can we unlock the extrordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world?

During an incident or emergency, it's understandable that confusion, disorientation and even panic are likely responses. We try to imagine the ways in which lighting can make a difference - big or small  We think of prevention - how illumination can help to anticipate and address problems before they even start - as well as the way in which it might assist during an incident. How can light help the people affected by a crisis ? What role can it play in aiding emergency responders? And how can it help in the aftermath of an incident?

Future of Mobility

Tailored mobility for the Province of Limburg

The project fundamentals focusses on mobility in Limburg and refers to realizable actions to keep the region attractive and accessible in short term vision for Flanders, The Euregion And Europe. All this in parallel with the plans to tackle the North-South connection and the developments of the Spartacus project.

Together with Frederic Boonen are we trying to develop a grid to quickly achieve a noticeable result, by departing from the relationship between living and working, migration and expansion, brain drain and the concentration of companies in parts of the region. All this is balanced between retail, sport and work and make them want to make people aware of the possibilities of experiencing time under the psychological limit of ten minutes.

In a first concept, the role of the e-vehicle is considered, we investigate how we can develop an e-vehicle tailored to Limburg.

There are conversations going on with Recitel as a potential production partner.

This research project will be set up together with the Province of Limburg and the Limburg transport industry and with the support and input of Prof. Dr. Em. Willy Miermans.
